Go Figure

Ok. I have no problem giving money away to a stranger(see previous post) but i get seriously irritated when my change is "stolen" by the freaking vending machines, post office machines, and more recently, the freaking newspaper machines. Very, very irritating. Kinda a funny thing about me. Fifty cents and i'm pissed!! LOL

You are not alone, AF. It's because you didn't intend to give the money away to the machine. You expected an exchange of a paper for your quarters.

I hit the machine and curse it out and end up looking like a crazy person. It's the principle (and principal) of the thing. ;)

Was it the Constitution? Those things are the one newspaper that constantly eats quarters. Always has!

I feel for you!

I have to do laundry in a laundromat. It's close enough to walk to. I don't mind it so much, until...I. Lose. $3.00. In. One. Trip. ack!

$0.50 or $3.00 -doesn't matter- flips. me. out.

I feel your consternation.

Newspaper boxes are notorious for stealing money. They CLAIM to be able to accept any combination of coins, at least here in Boston, but do they?! Noooooo.

I just read your Christmas gift story below ... sooo wonderful! That's such a good feeling isn't it? ... very different from the powerlessness of being ripped off by a crappy machine.

ditto...i was cheated by the vending machine at work. I mean really, at 3:30 in the morning, where am I going to get change for a ten dollar bill and who would trust the same machine. Urghh! It burns me up, and yes, I gave my last $20 to the women's homeless shelter volunteer so it really is the principal.

AF, you are not alone.
