Urges

Urges I often have, but don't act upon:

1. Give someone a lift who is waiting for the bus, especially in very hot or cold weather
2. Put a $20 in a sleeping street person's lap
3. Pull up the pants of those wearing them around their ankles
4. Yell at a parent who is screaming at their child in public
5. Tell overweight people i see exercising how great it is that they are exercising & offer encouragement
6. Talk to people in the elevator(why do we all just stand there and watch the numbers go up, go down??)

Urges I have had AND acted upon

1. told a stranger they were very attractive when they were (with no interest on my part)
2. let people in my life know how much i love, care for them
3. holler out my vehicle window when i am happy
4. look like a fool...for love
5. dance in my apartment full-on with spinning, and shouting the words out in my very BAD singing voice
6. won & lost hundreds of $ in casinos on crazy bets

what are some of your done and not done urges?

Urges I have and never act upon...

Er. I'm sure there are some...

Oh, standing up for people when other people are being rude or mean to them. Like wait staff or check out staff. Sometimes people in lineups are being really rude and I want to say, "hey, their da is just as important as yours, why don't you cut them some slack since this lineup is not their fault?" But I never do.

And one time I saw a dog in a car with no windows rolled down on a hot day. I wanted to just smash the window and let the owner figure out what a dink they were, but instead I just went into about five stores to make loudspeaker announcements. Angelina Jolie would have just smashed the windows, would have been so much cooler.

Ones that I have and DO act upon...

Going up to start random conversations when I think someone seems really cool or attractive;

Eating things I have a sudden craving for, like Eggos and whip cream, or peanut butter and bacon sandwiches, or wine for dinner;

Tipping really well from cab drivers to waitstaff to grocery delivery guy to gas station guy - it's all good karma, baby, so spread it around;

Giving money or cigarettes to homeless people, or buying a coffee or donut for them;

Random compliments to strangers (I love when I get them!);

Buying $20 worth of candy at 7-11 for roadtrips and eating it all by the first town;

Drinking too much wine with my girlfriends and telling them how much I love them;

Wishing on fountains, last cigarette, railroads, white cats, white horses, rainbows, you name it...the Goddess listens, believe me;

And sometimes....I do laundry, forget to put it in the dryer so it goes all wrinkly, and then instead of ironing it, just run it through the wash again. Disgraceful and wasteful.

Throwing away pop cans (only ever do once in a while, promise). See above judgment.

Take three candies from the courtesy bowl instead of just one.

Oh and if I'm in my apartment and Annie Lennox or Depeche Mode or similar comes on - I do a fake strip tease. Yup, I'm that cool.

Hmm,urges I never act upon...that could be dangerous!

I had several urges to tell off the people working in the grocery store yesterday. I was doing the "scan your own" and everytime I scanned something it said "wait for cashier" and invaribly they werent around - there were three of them just hanging out and talking. Everytime I had to go over and ask them to fix it - this happened three times before some guy got the hint that maybe he should stay over there. Finally, I got my purchases and reciept and he apologized for the inconvenience and said to have a "blessed day" (they do that here in the south) I was thankful that I didn't scream at him like I wanted to in the beginning. Sometimes it's good not to act on urges.

Urges I act upon -
I almost always give money to the guy playing the guitar in front of the Starbucks near the house. If I have it, I give it.

I open the doors for men and women alike if I happen to be crossing paths with someone at the doors.

I help little old ladies - they remind me of my grandmother.

I always say thank you to people that have the worst jobs that provide a service.

Shopping - big urges that I almost never ignore.

Starbucks coffee - good thing I own the stock.

Buying flowers.

Wine.

Hop on the bike and ride it up to the gas station just to gas it up and go home.

Urges I don't act on:

Sometimes I would love to stop the kid in the middle of a store that is whinning or acting unruly and the parents are doing nothing about it, and tell the kid to cut it out and tell the parents to PARENT

To tell the teenagers that are hanging outside of the convience store that not only do I not want to listen to them swearing but they are way to young to be doing it anyway.

Urges I give into

Shopping way to much

Having a few beers in the middle of the week

Eating ice cream for dinner
