Because when you're playing with your heart, you're playing with pretty high stakes. :) I think that love is the most precious thing in the world, so people are naturally protective of it.

To love, you have to open yourself to being loved...and consequently, possibly hurt.

Like Kelly said, let me know when you figure that one out...I need some help there too!

Would it be better to love someone who didn't love you back, or to be with someone who loved you, but whom you didn't love?

i know both sides of this: i know being afraid and going through the fear and i know being paralyzed by it. both offer lessons and i guess that is what its all about anyways...learning.

It is definitely about the learning. I can't count the number of times I've been hurt by something or someone only to realize that the lesson I learned, no matter how painful at the time, was so vital. Everything has brought us to where we are right here, right now.
